Bottenhavet – Fimpa alla ljusen

The Stockholm trio Bottenhavet are back with a new sound. On 17 April, they released the single ‘Fimpa alla ljusen’ via Fuzzorama Records, a track that showcases the band in a more direct and raw style than before. With a new album on the horizon, this is a promising sign from one of the most interesting acts in Scandinavian stoner and fuzz right now.

Bottenhavet recently released the single ‘Fimpa alla ljusen’ via Fuzzorama Records. Since their debut, the Swedish band from Stockholm have built up a solid reputation on the fuzz and stoner scene, and this new track confirms that they have no intention of slowing down.

Fuzzorama Records is run by none other than the masterminds behind the fuzz-rock giants Truckfighters, Oskar Cedermalm and Niklas Källgren. It’s a label that knows what it’s doing, and there’s little doubt that Bottenhavet belongs there.

‘Fimpa alla ljusen’ is more straightforward than the band’s previous work. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. The track has a drive and a direction that grab you from the very first second, and it shows that Bottenhavet have mastered the short, punchy format just as well as the more dynamic arrangements we know from their debut album. The track blends the band’s characteristic melodic hooks with explosive instrumental energy, and the raw production, topped off with Swedish lyrics, makes the band sound better than ever.

The band consists of Kim Minkkinen on vocals, Marcus Wigren on drums and Andreas Bohman on guitar. Kim Minkkinen is a vocalist in a class of his own, and this is clear to anyone who has seen the band live. At Desertfest Oslo, he impressed with a stage presence and energy that linger long afterwards. The quality of his vocals is consistently high, whether the song is heavy and drawn-out or, as here, more direct and energetic.

Their debut album, 'Ljud i Tysta Rum', was well received by both fans and critics, and was followed by a tour with stops in Sweden, Finland, Poland, Norway and Germany, including shows with Truckfighters and appearances at Desertfest Berlin and Fuzz Festival 2024.

In 2026, the band will embark on an exciting journey, bringing fresh energy to the stage and new music that marks the next chapter in their sound. 'Fimpa alla ljusen' points the way forward and looks very promising. Keep an eye out for what’s to come.
