Bong Voyage – Hedonistic Hard Rock
Bong Voyage is a sort of supergroup made up of members from Håndgemeng, Suncraft and Buskas. *Hedonistic Hard Rock* was released on 8 May 2026 on Ripple Music. It’s a debut album that doesn’t pretend to be anything other than what it is: nine tracks of loud, riff-heavy party rock from Oslo.

Pure anarchic fun is perhaps the shortest way to describe Bong Voyage’s debut. This isn’t a tentative foray onto the scene, but a shotgun blast of energy with no brakes and no interest in subtlety. Big, silly, glorious rock that knows exactly what it’s doing.
The influences are clear: KISS, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Queen, Kvelertak, The Obsessed and even Elton John are cited as sources of inspiration. The sound is reminiscent of KISS, Thin Lizzy, Black Sabbath and Motörhead fighting over the aux cable at three in the morning. This isn’t an album trying to find its identity. It knows exactly who it is.
Right from the opening track, ‘Saturday Rite Special’, the band sets the tone: heavy riffs, pounding rhythms and a sense that it could all come crashing down at any second, but never does. ‘Large and In Charge’ is the obvious centrepiece, a swagger-laden anthem that serves as a manifesto. Full of attitude and groove, it’s the sort of track that demands high volume and, ideally, a packed room with sticky floors.
‘Enabler’ and ‘In Possession’ show that these lads know how to write melodies that stick in your head, and towards the end of the album the whole journey feels like an intergalactic pub crawl through the seven deadly sins.
When the band draws on its vintage live-room instincts, the album is a real treat. Saturday Rite Special nails the formula perfectly with a raw, dynamic garage sound, where gritty verses are pitted against fuzz-heavy choruses. Hedonistic Hard Rock is a fun, unpretentious and riff-driven debut that knows exactly what it is and doesn’t pretend to be anything else.
Bong Voyage aren’t here to save rock. They’re here to get drunk on it all over again. That’s more than enough.
